Tena Lukas

Tena Lukas is a Croatian tennis player. She has won one doubles title on the WTA Challenger Tour along with twelve singles and six doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No 200 and she peaked at No 257 in the WTA doubles rankings.

Tena Lukas was born on May 10, 1995. She started in tennis at an early age and showed great skills and talent. Alsready in 2007 she was the runner-up at the Croatia Cup for girls Under 12. As junior she won the titles at the Citta Di Montecatini and J30 Mostar \ Mostar Open in 2010, as well as the runner-up at the Citta Di Pescara in 2009 and BH Open 18 & Under in 2011.

Tena Lukas made her professional debut in 2011, reaching the final at the $10,000 Brcko (Bosnia). By the end of the season, she reached the quarter-finals of the $10,000 Vinkovci (Croatia) and $10,000 Dubrovnik (Croatia).

In 2012, she continue gaining experience in the ITF Circuit, reaching the quarter-finals at the $10,000 Antalya Belek (Turkey), $10,000 Dubrovnik (Croatia) and $10,000 Portschach (Austria), but did not made any other significant achievement.

Tena Lukas please her second ITF final in 2013 at the $10,000 Innsbruck (Austria), but again lost. During the season, she played at the semi-finals at the $10,000 Antalya (Turkey) and the quarter-finals at the $10,000 Portschach (Austria) and $15,000 Bol (Croatia).

In 2014, Tena Lukas won her first ITF title at the $15,000 Bol (Croatia), but before reaching it he lost three more finals. At the end of the season, she was about to win another trophy but lost again in the final at the $10,000 W15 Heraklion (Greece).

Tena Lukas continued performing strong at the ITF Circuit in 2015, winning the titles at the $15,000 Bol (Croatia) and $25,000 W35 Aschaffenburg (Germany), but also was the runner-up at the $25,000 Alphen A/D Rijn (Netherlands). At the end of the season, she made her WTA Challenger debut at the WTA 125 Taipei OEC Open but lost in the first round.

In 2016, Tena Lukas played again in the main draw of the WTA 125 Croatia Bol Open and again lost in the first round. In the ITF Circuit, she reached the finals at the $15,000 Bol (Croatia).

In 2017, Tena Lukas won the title at the $15,000 W15 Antalya (Turkey). Meanwhile, she played in the semi-finals at the $25,000 Balatonboglar (Hungary) and $25,000 W35 Santa Margherita Di Pula (Italy) and reached the second round of the WTA 125 Croatia Bol Open.

Tena Lukas continued playing mostly locally in Europe in 2018, but made a great breakthrough at the WTA 125 Croatia Bol Open, reaching the semi-finals. Besides that, she was the runner-up at the $15,000 W15 Tucepi (Croatia) and $25,000 W25 Podgorica (Montenegro).

In 2019, Tena Lukas won the titles at the $25,000 W25 Vienna (Austria), $25,000 W25 Podgorica (Montenegro), and $25,000 W35 Santa Margherita Di Pula (Italy). Unfortunately again failed to reach some significant achievement in singles at the WTA Tour.

In 2020, Tena Lukas again played at the WTA Challenger Tour, reaching the second round of the WTA 125 Prague Open. At the ITF Circuit, she played in the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Selva Gardena (Italy). In the next season, she had very small achievements at singles, reaching the semi-finals at the $25,000 W25 Budapest (Romania) and the quarter-finals at the $25,000 W35 Seville (Spain).

In 2022, Tena Lukas the prestigious singles at the $60,000 W60 Rome (Italy), but also was the runner-up at the $25,000 W25 Vienna (Austria). During the season she played at the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Split (Croatia) and $25,000 W25 Osijek (Croatia), as well as the quarter-finals of the $60,000 W75 Zagreb (Croatia, $60,000 W60 Vrnjacka Banja (Serbia), $25,000 W25 Sibenik (Croatia), and $25,000 W35 Santa Margherita Di Pula (Italy). Partnering Dalila Jakupovic Tena Lukas won her first WTA 125 doubles title at the 2022 Makarska International, defeating Olga Danilović and Aleksandra Krunic in the final.

Tena Lukas won her most prestigious title so far in 2023, triumphing at the $60,000 W75 Vienna (Austria). During the season she also won the title at the $25,000 W35 Darmstadt (Germany), was the runner-up at the $25,000 W25 Osijek (Croatia), and also played in the semi-finals at the $60,000 W75 Prague (Czech Republic), $25,000 W35 Tarvisio (Italy), and $25,000 W25 Osijek (Croatia).

Tena Lukas started the 2024 season by triumphing with the title at the $25,000 W35 Antalya (Turkey) and later during the season won again the $60,000 W75 Vienna (Austria).

Playing for Croatia, Lukas has a win-loss record of 6-7 in Billie Jean King Cup competitions.
