Paula Badosa is a professional tennis player from Spain. She achieved notable success by winning the girls’ singles title at the 2015 French Open, where she triumphed over Anna Kalinskaya in the final match. She exemplifies an aggressive baseliner, with her playing style primarily focused on her formidable serve and groundstrokes. At a height of 1.80m, Paula Badosa possesses one of the fastest serves in the tour, enabling her to take charge of rallies. Furthermore, her athletic prowess as a counterpuncher contributes to her defensive skills, allowing her to respond to drop shots and navigate all areas of the court.
Born on November 15, 1997, in Manhattan, Badosa began her tennis journey at the age of seven. She participated in her first qualifying event on the WTA Tour in 2013, competing in Palermo. Badosa received a wild card entry into the main draw of the 2015 Miami Open, where she advanced to the third round after victories against Petra Cetkovska and Zheng Saisai, ultimately losing to Karolina Pliskova.
Paula Badosa is also recognized as a former junior world No. 8. She made her initial appearance on the ITF Junior Circuit in September 2012, at the age of 14.
Her biggest achievement was winning the title at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open in 2021 and playing in the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2025. Meanwhile, she won the titles at the WTA 500 Mubadala Citi DC Open in 2024 WTA 500 Sydney Tennis Classic in 2022. Her first WTA title came at the WTA 250 Serbia Ladies Open in 2021.
Also she has quarter-finals of the French Open in 2021 and the US Open in 2024. She reached her highest WTA ranking of No 2 on April 25, 2022.
