Paige Hourigan

Paige Hourigan is a professional tennis player from New Zealand. She has won four singles and eleven doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.

Paige Hourigan was born on February 2, 1997, in Turakina, New Zealand. She started in tennis as a kid and showed her skills at some local tournaments. She won five singles and five doubles titles as a junior, the best of which was the doubles at the Grade-2 Biesterbos Open in the Netherlands, partnering Lizette Cabrera. At singles, she won the titles at the J5 Hamilton \ Hamilton ITF Junior Championships, Sunsmart 18 & Under Summer Championships, and J5 Auckland \ Auckland ITF Indoor Championships in 2012, as well as J5 Auckland \ Auckland ITF Indoor Championships and J5 Hamilton \ Hamilton ITF Junior Championships in 2013. As a junior, Paige Hourigan reached the semi-finals of the 2009 Optus 12s Australian Championships and 2011 J60 Christchurch \ Wilson Tennis Canterbury ITF. Her best junior ranking was 175, in October 2012.

Paige Hourigan made her professional debut in 2016 at the $10,000 Antalya (Turkey), reaching the second round. During the season she played two more ITF Circuit tournaments. During the next season, she played at the $25,000 Auburn, AL (USA), but lost in the first round.

In 2018, Paige Hourigan won her first ITF title at the $25,000 W25 Corroios-Seixal (Portugal). During the season, she also reached the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Fort Worth, TX (USA) and the quarter-finals of the $25,000 Baton Rouge, LA (USA).

Paige Hourigan continue playing at the ITF Circuit in 2019. She won her second title at the $15,000 W15 Cancun (Mexico). During the season, she reached the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Singapore (Singapore), as well as the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Hong Kong (Hong Kong) and $25,000 W25 Corroios-Seixal (Portugal). Paige Hourigan was given a wildcard into the singles qualifying draw at the Auckland Open but failed to reach the main scheme. She did much better in the doubles where, with partner Taylor Townsend, she got all the way to her first WTA final, having defeated second seeds Kirsten Flipkens and Johanna Larsson in the semi-final.

In 2020, Paige Hourigan did not play at many tournaments due to the coronavirus pandemic and the short tennis season. She, however, reached the quarter-finals of the $15,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).

In 2021, Paige Hourigan won two more ITF titles at the $15,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) and $15,000 W15 Monastir (Tunisia). During the season, she reached the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Salinas (Ecuador) and $25,000 W25 Sumter, SC (USA).

In 2022, Paige Hourigan reached the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Monastir (Tunisia), but did not achieve some significant success either in 2022 or in the 2023 seasons.
