Maria Timofeeva is a Russian tennis player, who has won five singles and six doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit.
Maria Timofeeva was born on November 18, 2003, in Russia. She started in tennis as a kid and showed great talent and skills. She was the runner-up at the Sochi Cup in 2014 but also reached high levels of many junior and youth tennis tournaments around Europe. Maria Timofeeva won the titles at the J5 Yerevan \ Incourt Cup, Tel Aviv Open, Smena Cup, Misk Star, and Galina Memorial Cup in 2016, the J4 Veli Losinj \ Losinj Juniors Cup, Les Petits As – Le Mondial Lacoste and GD Tennis Cup in 2017, as well as J300 Prague West \ RPM Junior Vestec Open in 2018.
Maria Timofeeva made her professional debut in 2018, playing at the $15,000 W15 Kazan (Russia), where reached the semi-finals. During the season, she played also at the $15,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).
In 2019, Maria Timofeeva continue playing at the Junior Tour and the ITF Circuit. She reached the quarter-finals of the $15,000 W15 Tbilisi (Georgia) and the second round of the $15,000 W15 Prokuplje (Serbia), before winning her first ITF title at the $15,000 W15 Antalya (Turkey). By the end of the season, she played at the $25,000 W25 Gwalior (India), where reached the quarter-finals.
Maria Timofeeva won her second ITF title in 2020, triumphing at the $15,000 W15 Monastir (Tunisia). During the short season, disturbed by the coronavirus pandemic, she played also at tournaments in Egypt and Russia but did not achieve some significant success.
In 2021, Maria Timofeeva won the title at the $15,000 W15 Cairo (Egypt). She also reached the semi-finals of the $15,000 W15 Monastir (Tunisia) and $25,000 W25 Salinas (Ecuador), as well as the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic).
In 2022, Maria Timofeeva debuted at the WTA 125 tournament main scheme, playing at the WTA 125 Liqui Moly Open Karlsruhe, losing already in the first round. During the season, she won the title at the $25,000 W25 Raanana (Israel), and reached the semi-finals at the $60,000 W60 Meitar (Israel) and $25,000 W25 Monastir (Tunisia).
Maria Timofeeva won another ITF title at the $40,000 W40 Monastir (Tunisia) in 2023. She was the runner-up at the $40,000 W40 Murska Sobota (Slovenia) and $25,000 W25 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), as well as a quarter-finalist at the $60,000 W60 Bodrum (Turkey). She also debuted in the main scheme of the WTA 250 tournament – WTA 250 Hungarian Grand Prix, where reached the second round.
