Diane Parry is a French professional tennis player, who peaked at the world’s No 58 in the WTA singles rankings. She was the junior world No 1 in 2019 and has won 2 WTA and 4 ITF titles.
Diane Parry was born on September 1, 2002, in Nice, France. Trained at the Boulogne-Billancourt tennis club (TCBB), she obtained her first significant results in the junior categories in 2018 by winning J300 Villena \ Trofeo Juan Carlos Ferrero, JA Merida \ Mundial Juvenil Yucatan FMT. She was the semi-finalist at the Orange Bowl, losing to Cori Coco Gauff, and played at the Junior Grand Slam and Youth Olympics. In 2019, she won JA Osaka \ Osaka Mayor’s Cup – World Super Junior Tennis Championships, designated Junior World Champion for 2019. During the season she won the ITF Junior Masters and reached the semi-finals of the Junior Wimbledon.
Diane Parry made her professional debut in 2017 at the ITF Circuit. She played at the $10,000 W15 Le Havre (Frace), but lost in the first round. By the end of the season, she played also at the $25,000 W25 Perigueux (France), 25,000 Joue-Les-Tours (France), and $15,000 Hammamet (Tunisia), without achieving significant success but gaining experience.
In 2018, she reached the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25 Santa Margherita Di Pula (Italy), but most of her attention was on the Junior Tour.
Diane Parry made a great junior season in 2019, becoming the Junior World Champion and reaching the semi-finals of Junior Wimbledon. In the senior ITF Circuit, she reached the quarter-finals of the $25,000 W25+H Tunis (Tunisia) and the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25+H Montpellier (France). During the season she debuted at the Grand Slam, playing in the main scheme of the US Open, but lost in the first round to Kristyna Pliskova (Czech Republic).
In 2020, she started playing entirely in the senior ITF Circuit and WTA Tour. She won her first title at the end of the season at the $15,000 W15 Antalya (Turkey). During the season Diane Parry reached the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Las Vegas, NV (USA) and played in the main scheme of the French Open / Roland Garros, but lost in the first round to Polona Hercog (Slovenia). She also played in the WTA 125 Prague Open but also lost in the first round.
Diane Parry won the first WTA title in 2021, triumphing at the WTA 125 Montevideo Open. She also was the runner-up at the WTA 125 Argentina Open but lost in the final to Anna Bondar (Hungary). During the season she won the ITF titles at $25,000 W25 Perigueux (France), $25,000 W25 Torino (Italy), and $25,000 W25 Seville (Spain).
In 2022, Diane Parry started the season playing in the main schemes of the Australian Open and WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros but lost in the first round in both. In May, she made her biggest achievement so far, reaching the third round of the French Open / Roland Garros, and in June made the same at Wimbledon. Meanwhile, she reached the semi-finals of the WTA 125 Veneto Open Internazionali Confindustria Venezia e Rovigo. In the next months, she played in the semi-finals of the WTA 250 Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby and quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Palermo Ladies Open, WTA 250 Zavarovalnica Sava Portoroz, and WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir. For a while, she climbed to the top ranking of the world’s No 58 but then dropped out of the world’s Top 100.
In 2023, Diane Parry won her second WTA title at the WTA 125 Trophee Clarins.
